Trimethylchlorosilane (molecular formula: (CH3) 3SiCl), also known as chlorinated trimethylsilane, chlorotrimethylsilane, trimethylmonochlorosilane, colorless liquid at room temperature, is a halogenated silane, in organic synthesis has many uses. It is stable in the absence of water, but decomposes with water, producing six methyl two siloxane and hydrochloric acid. It can be obtained by the reaction of chloromethane with silica powder in the presence of cuprous chloride and distillation purification, or by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of nucleophilic methyl reagents such as methyl lithium with silicon tetrachloride.</span>
